El-Sayed: Trump has as much regard for Constitution as ‘a piece of toilet paper’

Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed criticized President Trump on Sunday, saying the president has as much regard for the Constitution as “a piece of toilet paper.”
In an interview with Al Sharpton on PoliticsNation, El-Sayed was asked about the numerous attacks made by the GOP and Trump about his family background and faith and how it’s starkly similar to what Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is currently experiencing.
“It’s disgusting and it’s un-American. I mean, the thing about Donald Trump is that he has about as much regard for the Constitution as he has for a piece of toilet paper in his personal bathroom, because that’s basically what he’s done with it,” El-Sayed said.
“He doesn’t understand all of us who believe in an America under the rule of law guaranteed to us by that hallowed document under which all of us live, and it’s a document that guarantees us the right to pray as we choose to pray or not pray at all,” the Michigan Democrat continued. “To him, it is America is a country that is about a certain group of people rather than a rule of law that brings us all together.”
El-Sayed drew comparisons to Omar who is currently under investigation by the federal government for alleged immigration fraud.
“When he goes after Congresswoman Omar, when he goes after me, he’s going after that idea of America,” he stated.
In a recent Truth Social post, Trump called El-Sayed “a Jihadist Member of the Muslim Brotherhood,” adding that he believed the Senate candidate wanted “our Country to go to Sharia Law.”
El-Sayed’s GOP opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), has also pointed out political contributions made to El-Sayed from people connected to the Muslim Brotherhood, claiming the Democrat “pledged his support” to the organization.
The Michigan Democrat has disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood and his campaign has denied that it has any connection to the group.
