How we verify

Cinnamon News exists to do one thing well: give you what's true, without the manipulation. Here's exactly how that works — including where it falls short, because a page about trust shouldn't hide anything.

1 We cross-check every story across independent outlets

We don't take any single newsroom's word for it. Cinnamon continuously pulls reporting from multiple independent outlets — currently the BBC, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Sky News, NPR, The Hill, Axios, and the Wall Street Journal — chosen to span the spectrum from left-of-center to center-right.

When several of them independently report the same event, we group that coverage together. The more independent outlets that corroborate a story, the more confident you can be that it happened the way it's described.

2 The consensus meter shows you that confidence

Every story carries a meter:

  • “87% agreement · 4 independent sources” means four separate outlets corroborate the core facts, and they largely agree.
  • “Single source · not yet corroborated” means only one outlet has it so far. We tell you that plainly instead of dressing it up — an uncorroborated story isn't hidden, it's just honestly labeled.

The meter is the heart of Cinnamon. It turns “trust us” into “here's the evidence, decide for yourself.”

3 The facts come first — the lenses are yours

By default, you read the verified story, straight, with the sensational framing stripped out. Then, if you want, you choose an optional lens:

  • Calm tone — the same facts, de-sensationalized.
  • Perspectives — how different outlets framed the same event.
  • Fact vs. opinion — what's verified versus what's interpretation.
  • TL;DR — the gist.

The rule we never break: we never alter the facts, and the original is always one tap away. You're in control of every transformation — nothing is done to you behind the scenes.

4 What we don't do

No ads. No tracking. No outrage engine. We don't sell your attention, and we don't decide how you should feel. The business of the news became keeping you anxious and scrolling — Cinnamon is built to be the opposite.

5 Where we're honest about the limits

Trust is earned by admitting what we can't promise:

  • AI assists the lenses, and AI can make mistakes. That's exactly why the verified original is always available — so you can check it yourself.
  • A single source is just that. We label it, we don't inflate it.
  • Some outlets sit behind paywalls, so for those we may show a summary and a link rather than the full text.
  • We're early. This is a young product, and we'll keep showing our work as it improves.

Informed, without the bias.

That's not a claim that we're perfectly objective — no one is. It's a promise that we'll show you the sources, separate fact from framing, never manipulate you, and always let you see the original. The rest is yours to judge.
