Germany's far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) is celebrating as exit polls show they are set to win more than 44% of the vote in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt.
The AfD's projected result is higher than earlier opinion polls suggested and the party has hailed the news as a "historic outcome".
However, party leaders will not know if they have enough seats to govern until they see which of the smaller parties get into the state parliament.
