Greene says 'Trump has become a curse to Republican candidates' ahead of Election Day
✓Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) criticized President Trump, saying Sunday he had “become a curse to Republican candidates” ahead the November midterm elections when the GOP is projected to lose the House.
“He has no idea how bad he is doing in GA. And to threaten our state that he would refuse to help the good people of Georgia just because he doesn’t like who calls him shows how much he really doesn’t care,” Greene wrote on social media in response to Trump delivering remarks at a campaign rally in the Peach State.
“Trump has become a curse to Republican candidates and it will be worse in ‘28,” she concluded.
The clip Greene responded to showed Trump saying there was “a big difference” when a president “likes the people representing his name.”
“Collins could call me anytime he wants,” Trump said about Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.), who is running for Georgia’s Senate seat. “There’s a big difference between that and Pee Wee Herman calling. Sir, Pee Wee Herman’s like, tell him I’m not in. I’m not in. But he needs money for Georgia. I don’t give a damn what he wants. I’m not in.”
Once a Trump ally, Greene lost the president’s endorsement last November. She resigned from Congress in January during a feud with the president.
The tiff concerned Trump’s handling of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and a perceived lack of attention from the president on bringing down costs. In April, she stated she believed that Trump was “not the same man that we supported” for a decade.
Greene’s comments come as the GOP attempts to navigate a rocky midterm environment amid growing dissatisfaction with Trump’s war in Iran and the cost of living. At the same time, Trump’s approval rating fell to a historic low, according to a New York Times/Siena poll.
