Voters in Louisiana are heading to the polls Saturday to weigh in on the Republican Senate runoff following Sen. Bill Cassidy’s ouster last month.
GOP Rep. Julia Letlow and state treasurer John Fleming advanced from the initial May primary after neither candidate secured over 50 percent of the vote outright. Cassidy placed in third place amid President Trump’s to oust the second-term incumbent.
The contest on the other side of the aisle also moved to a runoff, with consultant Gary Crockett and Jamie Davis duking it out for the Democratic nod Saturday.
The winner of the Republican runoff is almost certainly set to succeed Cassidy representing the Pelican State on Capitol Hill.
