Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico said he would want to work with President Trump on a bipartisan “Make America Great Again” agenda.

“I would love, as the next U.S. senator from Texas, to work with Donald Trump to actually fulfill some of the promises of his political project,” Talarico stated during an interview with “The Diary of a CEO.”

“Because the promise of MAGA was that we were going to transform this government so that it delivered for the people who have been left behind, the people who have been forgotten in this country, and there’s still time to do that,” he continued.

Talarico expressed that there was “still time to do that” in the last two years of Trump’s second term in the White House “on a bipartisan basis.”

“If the president wants to work with me or with any Democrat to expand healthcare access, I’m there,” the Democrat said, adding that he would similarly appear to “build millions of new homes” and “slash the red tape.”

“So my hope is that this midterm will be a wake up call for the president, for his administration, and as a result, they will reverse course,” he concluded. “They will decide to engage with leaders in both parties to actually deliver for the working people who sent him there.”

Talarico — a Texas state legislator — is racing against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in one of the most contested and watched Senate races in the country.

It would be a shock for the Democrat to win a state that Trump carried in all of his presidential bids, but Paxton has struggled to pull ahead in polling leading up to Election Day.

The possibility of flipping a seat in the red stronghold comes as Trump rallied in the state four times. He nicknamed Talarico “Democrat Communist James Talafreako.”

“Talafreako stated that he wants to dismantle Texas oil and gas and capitalism itself. He wants to take it apart,” Trump told supporters at one Texas rally, adding that Talarico will “kill millions of Texas jobs.”

A recent New York Times/Siena poll reported Talarico leading by 7 points over Paxton, with 6 percent saying they still didn’t know who to choose or refused to answer.
